Our Aims

Lanyon 950

The project has four interlocking aims:

  1. We aim to generate new insights into different conflict settings in relation to how processes of creativity and participation in sound interventions can shape experiences of conflict in the Middle East, Brazil and Northern Ireland.
  1. We seek to analyse alternative perspectives of conflict through the narratives, histories and voices of music activists, sound art participants and theatre performers.
  1. We aim to identify common patterns of response to conflict through the ways in which music, storytelling and digital media engage emotional legacies and discourses of conflict, influence relations of trust and prompt wider social and cultural change.
  1. We will analyse the challenges and opportunities that music, storytelling and digital media offer policy-makers in creating new and sustainable responses to conflict and post-conflict issues.
